That is where I spend most of my time. Professional projects give me the evidence; writing gives me room to examine the patterns behind them.

Responsible AI needs an operating model, not another list of principles.
Principles matter, but they do not decide who can approve a use case, what evidence is sufficient, when human review is meaningful or who stops a system that is behaving badly.

Developed and co-delivered a consultant training-of-trainers programme in the RBH Türkiye, TÜRKONFED, GIZ and RBH Serbia programme context.
Labour and human rights due diligence · Egypt
Manufacturing assignments combining on-site work in Cairo and remote support: labour standards, workers’ rights, occupational health and safety, procedures and compliance-tracking tools.
Labour rights and community safeguards · Lebanon
Recurring on-site and remote assignments totalling approximately six months. Work covered responsible recruitment, workers’ rights, prevention of underage labour and impacts on communities affected by infrastructure projects.
Community engagement and social safeguards · Sierra Leone
Separate assignments in April–July 2018, November 2020–May 2021 and April 2025. Field work with households and small businesses included livelihood impacts and a simple grievance process that accepted oral concerns; the 2025 work also included SME transition and consultant training.
Innovation support · Western Balkans
A separate Planet S.A. assignment in an EIB-supported programme: five training modules for incubator and technology-park teams and resident SMEs, with workshops, feedback and reporting.

Ema Petrović
Founder of Blue Ocean Navigator · Consultant, programme designer and trainer.
I help organisations modernise their operations, use AI responsibly and turn sustainability and governance requirements into working procedures and implementation plans. My work connects business assessment, governance and the skills teams need to carry change through.
My international assignments include labour and human rights due diligence in Egypt, labour rights and community safeguards in Lebanon, and environmental and social due diligence in Sierra Leone. Across Serbia, Türkiye and the Western Balkans, I have developed programmes, practical tools and training for consultants, companies and business support organisations.
